Golf Museum offering free access
The British Golf Museum is opening its doors for free on Saturday 18th September.
The event is in celebration of 2010 being the 20th anniversary of the British Golf Museum and the 150th anniversary of The Open Championship.
Originally a 'cabinet of curiosities' started by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1864, the collection formed the basis of the Museum, which now displays the largest collection of golfing artefacts and memorabilia in Europe.
Since opening in 1990, the museum has won several major awards and is currently one of only nine museums in Scotland to have been awarded 5 star status by Visit Scotland.
To mark its 20th anniversary, the museum is offering free admission on 20 special free entry days throughout the year, the next of which is on our 20th Birthday, 18th September 2010.
Highlights of 2010 have already included the unveiling of three new exhibitions and in celebration of the 150th Open Championship, the museum is still showcasing its Open Trail guidebook, which is free for every visitor.
