'Prospects' is an annual discussion meeting and the Society's first event of
the year. It brings together a panel of industry experts to predict the
trends for the tourism industry from the viewpoints of inbound, outbound and
domestic tourism with special consideration for the hotel and aviation
sectors.
2009 begins with a new president for the USA and the excitement of a general
election for the UK in June. The UNWTO is likely to predict ongoing growth
in global tourism but how will the reduction in disposable income affect
holidaymakers' plans coming in and going out of the UK? Will hotel
development continue or will it slow down? Will we ever have enough beds for
2012? Will the aviation industry be stifled by airport expansion opposition
or will it come up with bright new ideas to mitigate CO2 emissions whilst
keeping tickets prices affordable to save itself?
Anyone interested in the future of the global tourism industry should attend
this event.
